Sami Northern Lights tour – Reindeer Sleigh and Aurora Hunt

Our camp location in the forests outside of Kiruna is specifically chosen for its deep darkness, providing excellent conditions for an effective Aurora hunt. After picking you up from your accommodation by car and a short snowmobile ride (about 4km) to our forest camp, you are welcomed by our friendly reindeer. They are ready to go and you will settle into the sleigh for a beautiful reindeer sledding night tour across a frozen lake. Enjoy the silence of the Arctic, unlike motorized aurora hunts, this tour provides the perfect, quiet atmosphere to appreciate the beauty of the dark night sky. With a bit of luck, the mighty Northern Lights will  dance above us, but regardless, you will enjoy beautiful nature that surrounds Jukkasjärvi. 

Aurora Borealis and Sami Culture

After the sled ride, you can warm up inside our lavvo (Sámi tent) where your guide will serve light snacks and hot drinks to ensure you are cozy and comfortable throughout the evening. This traditional break provides a wonderful opportunity to share stories and learn more about the local culture from your guide. Although we try hard to provide you with a memorable experience, we cannot guarantee a Northern Lights sighting during the tour (they are a natural phenomenon). However, the entire reindeer sledding evening tour focuses on optimizing your viewing time in the most serene setting possible. 

Essential Tour Logistics and Practical Details

Your Sami northern Lights tour starts with a brief initial journey of about 4 kilometers into the forest via snowmobile and sled to reach our camp. Once at the camp, access to a WC is available at the camp location for your convenience. During the break in the lavvo, light snacks and hot drinks will be served. Please notify us of any allergies when booking so we can ensure suitable options are available for your trip. This experience is suitable for most guest.
