Låktatjåkko Snowmobile Tour: Sweden’s Highest Mountain Station
Experience the thrill of ascending to Låktatjåkko, Sweden’s highest mountain station, on this premium 5-hour snowmobile adventure. Starting from Björkliden, a mountain village close to the World famous Abisko National Park, we climb toward the heavens for a taste of their legendary waffles and a view that stretches across the Arctic horizon.
After pick up in either Björkliden or Abisko, we start our journey begins with an thorough introduction and a practice round to ensure everyone feels confident on their snowmobile. The goal of the day is Sweden’s highest mountain station called Låktatjåkko, located at 1228m above sea level. From our starting point in Björkliden, that is a climb of almost 800m. Driving the snowmobiles through the snowcovered landscape, we quickly leave the shelter of the trees and valleys behind. Once we reach the Rakkaslahku plateau you will enjoy sweeping views of Čuonjávággi—the legendary gateway to Lapland—and the massive Lake Torneträsk as which Abisko and Björkliden are located. Nature is inhospitable up here, conditions can be windy and harsh, but the views are worth braving the elements for. Led by our certified snowmobile guides, you will gain a deeper understanding of the region’s ecology as we navigate the spectacular terrain.
Magical Views and Well-earned Waffles
Once we reach Låktatjåkko, we enjoy a rest and delicous, fresh waffle – a real treat after a few hours in the cold. After warming up at the mountain station, we take the snowmobiles to explore deeper into the wilderness, including the dramatic Wolf Pass, before returning to Björkliden. Our limited group sizes, with a maximum of 8 persons, ensure a personal, high-quality experience.
