The Tour to Icehotel and Jukkasjärvi is a comprehensive cultural half-day trip. Your small group will visit the magical Icehotel, where you have time, on your own, to discover the famous, annually changing ice art exhibition. Your guide provides fascinating context about the hotel’s construction and history before you step inside this crystalline masterpiece.
History and Sámi Immersion
The experience extends beyond the hotel. Your local Sámi guide takes you to the oldest part of Jukkasjärvi, the historic village. You will visit the old church, where the oldest parts date back to 1607 and learn more about Kiruna’s history and the Sámi people of the region. We also meet the reindeers at Nutti Sami Siida, the Sámi open air museum close by. This half-day trip to Jukkasjärvi provides valuable insight into local life, contrasting the modernity and fleetingsness of the ice art with the permanence of a traditional Arctic village.
