Snowmobile Ice Fishing Tour

The Snowmobile Ice Fishing Tour begins with a short transfer from the meeting point in the center of Kiruna to our snowmobile garage. After getting you outfitted with all necessary clothing and equipment you will receive a thourough instruction of how to drive a snowmobile. The tour is beginner friendly and our professional guides will make sure that all are comfortable before we head out on an exhilarating ride through Lapland’s snowcovered wilderness, covering approximately 20km-25km. We will make several stops along the way, so if you are two to share a snowmobile, you can switch and take turns. We drive through Arctic forests and over frozen rivers until eventually, we reach a secluded lake. Our local expertise ensures access to the best fishing grounds in beauiful nature surrounding Kiruna.

The Tranquility of Ice Fishing

Upon arrival, your guide will demonstrate the traditional methods of ice fishing, including drilling the hole through the thick ice and setting up the gear. You’ll settle in on a reindeer skin by a freshly drilled hole in the ice to try your luck at catching species like Arctic char and trout. Icefishing takes patience, but the thrill of a tugon the line is well worth the wait. While you fish, your guide shares insights into the region’s unique ecosystems and the local wildlife. Disclaimer: Catching fish is not guaranteed, but the peaceful experience is. Meanwhile, a warming lunch is prepared over an open fire for you to enjoy. Then it is time to jump back on our snowmobiles and head back towards civilization. 

Important Trip Information

Please be ready at the meeting point (New Kiruna Center) 30 minutes prior to the official start time. Hotel pick up is possible at an extra charge, transfers can be added in the booking process. The tour includes warm overalls, boots, lunch, fishing gear, and guiding services. 

Driving license

• Valid driver’s license (for cars; license for snowmobiles is not required) to drive the snowmobiles.

Age requirements

• Minimum 18 years of age to drive the snowmobiles.
• Minimum 3 years of age to partake in the tour.

Children

• Children under the age of 13 sit in a sled pulled by the guide.
• Children under the age of 5 require an adult to sit in the sled with them.

Alcohol Policy & Driving Requirements
Consumption of alcohol before or during the tour is strictly prohibited. Participants who are intoxicated or display unsafe behavior may be prohibited from driving or continuing the activity.

Liability for Damages
In the event of a collision caused by the participant that results in damage to a snowmobile, a fee of up to 8,000 SEK may be charged.
